The Lab and prompts

Once a project is in the Studio, every change to it is a prompt: one fix, change or feature, written in plain words and run by Maria.

Prompts

A prompt is one thing you want done. Maria tags it Fix, Change or Feature (you never have to), and it gets a code like EXP-1a2b. Prompts belong to the workspace, so the whole team sees the same list.

Milestones and the Backlog

Milestones are plain groups for your prompts; a prompt in none sits in the Backlog. + Add milestone makes one; you can rename it or delete it (its prompts move to the Backlog, none is deleted). Drag a prompt to reorder it or onto another milestone: the order is for your reading, it doesn't change when anything runs.

Add a prompt

  • Write it yourself: the prompt, and its milestone.
  • ✨ Let Maria suggest one for a milestone.
  • Ask in the chat: Maria turns your words into a prompt to + Add to the Lab or ▶ Run now (see Maria).

Run a prompt

Each prompt has a page of its own: the whole prompt (edit it and Save), its kind and code, its status and milestone, and ▶ Run, after which Maria checks what she needs, then builds it. A prompt is to do, queued (it runs when the project is free), building, waiting for answers or done.

When Maria asks something

Maria stops only for a real doubt. She asks in the chat and on the prompt's page under Needs your answer. For each question, answer it, or choose Add later: the feature stays off until it's set. Then Save and continue.

  • Changed your mind? Cancel the prompt undoes everything it did; it stays in the list. For the MVP build it's Stop building: what's built is kept, and Resume carries on.
  • Keys of outside services (a payment provider's, an email service's…) are never asked here: the app's Secrets tab lists them, and you pick each from the vault or add it. Features that need one switch on by themselves once it's set.

After it's built

A built prompt leaves the Lab, which only lists what's still to do. What it did, with a summary and anything left for you, is on the project's Activity tab. A prompt that fails is undone and stays in the Lab, and the reason is in Activity.

Out of credits, a run pauses partway: Paused — out of credits. Nothing is lost. Add credits (Settings → Credits), then press ▶ Run again.
